Special Weapon Exotic Legacy Engram (31 Strange Coins)
For the bargain price of 31 Strange Coins, you too can purchase…something. Special Weapons include Sniper Rifles, Shotguns, and Fusion Rifles. By Legacy, you will receive a Year One Weapon in hopes of unlocking the ability to purchase a Year Two Weapon. (What?)

For example, the Hawkmoon was first introduced as an Exotic Hand Cannon in Year One. Many wanted one, but not everyone got it. However, unlike many of the Year One Exotic Weapons, the Hawkmoon was grandfathered into Year Two in The Taken King.

Problem is, if you want to buy the Year Two version of the Hawkmoon with Legendary Marks, you have to own the Year One version, first. Don’t yell at me…I didn’t make this stuff up. 🙂

One resolution is to purchase a Legacy Engram when Xur shows up. Of course, even if you get a Primary Weapon type Engram, there’s no guarantee that the Cryptarch will decode it into a Hawkmoon. So, you’re rolling the dice while spending some serious…Strange Coins. Next.

Destiny™ HUNTER | GEAR EXOTIC: Graviton Forfeit
Graviton Forfeit | Hunter Class (13 Strange Coins)
First introduced in The Taken King, I turned in an Exotic Gear Engram to receive this, which is why it was 290 when I got it. I have kicked it up by four points since then. If you purchase this Helmet from Xur, for 13 Strange Coins, it will have a 280 Defense Rating.

This Helmet does not benefit either Sub-Class, really. The Main Perk is the Shade-Step move introduced for Nightstalkers, the Void Sub-Class. Well, if you play as a Bladedancer (Arc) or Gunslinger (Solar), you can still perform a Shade-Step move with this Helmet equipped.

Shade-Step is basically a fancy dodging move, where you roll forward to avoid an attack. Do I use it? No. Do I wear this Helmet all the time? Yes! See how cool it looks?!

Again, all Exotic Gear Engrams will give you Defense Rating of 290. The downside is, of course, you don’t know what the Cryptach will decode the Engram to. Moving on.

Destiny™ WARLOCK | GEAR EXOTIC: Alchemist's Raiment
Alchemist’s Raiment | Warlock Class (13 Strange Coins)
Main Perk: Chance to gain Glimmer on Primary Ammo pickup. With full Super, Orbs recharge melee and grenade.

Again, I will probably wear this simply because it looks spiffy. The colors move and change. Still, when I face the more difficult tasks in the game, I wouldn’t waste an Exotic spot on this.

Destiny™ TITAN | EXOTIC GEAR: The Taikonaut
The Taikonaut | Titan Class (13 Strange Coins)
Main Perk: All Rocket Launchers gain tracking. Visible radar while zooming with Heavy Weapons. Heavy Ammo drops more often.
Secondary: More Super energy from non-Guardian kills

This is new, as well, first introduced in The Taken King. But umm, did they decide to spoil Titans on this one? Are you kidding me? I already explained to you guys that I don’t use Rocket Launchers because most of them do not track targets. Which means, you have to aim at the ground to ensure your enemies won’t just side-step the rocket…missing them completely.

The visible radar is helpful, a nice touch. Plus, more Heavy Ammo drops. Yes. The main reason why I always wear the Ruin Wings for my Titan because they also have this perk. However, Ruins Wings are a Year One Exotic grandfathered into Year Two. And I suspect Bungie wants all Guardians to move on to new Year Two gear.

Well, offer better perks, that will help.

Anyway, this Helmet isn’t as spiffy as the trusty Ruin Wings, but…I’ll give it a whirl. Finally, the Secondary I listed here is my favorite in the game. Not every piece of Gear has it. Basically kill…anything…charge your Super. 🙂

Destiny™ WEAPONS | EXOTIC: Zhalo Supercell
Exotic Auto Rifle | Zhalo Supercell (13 Strange Coins)
Main Perk: Arc projectiles have the chance to chain lightning when enemies are close together
Secondary: Double kills with this weapon charge a small amount of Super energy and return ammo to the magazine

Is this ‘Halo’ with a Z? Okay, no need for that jab, but they were the creators of that game.

Anyway, less than a handful of Primary Weapons have ever had elemental energy attached in Destiny (i.e. Arc, Solar, or Void). Very rare. It’s reserved for Secondary and Heavy Weapons. Yet another new addition to the game, first introduced in The Taken King, we get an Arc Auto Rifle.

I know. I know. That’s what I saw, first. The Impact is extremely low, even for an Auto Rifle, especially for an Exotic Weapon. Still…look at the Perks. Chain lightning? Return ammo with double kills? They spelled ‘Halo’ wrong, but they may have gotten this weapon right. 🙂

Well, I will try to purchase the three pieces I don’t have already before Xur departs Sunday morning at 2am (PST). Though, I’ll need a total of 49 Strange Coins. I’ll have to check my stash between my three Exos and see if I need more.
